Hot Springs Hambanthota

There lies an interesting adventure behind the story of discovery of Madunagla Hot Water Springs. The diary entries of famous novelist Leonard Woolf once who was the AGA (Assistant Government Agent 1908 – 1911) for Hambanthota have revealed about a haphazard journey that was exuberant with wild animals and a boat ride being exceedingly fearful in the process of exploring these hot water springs.

Today the visitors would see four hot water wells built surrounding the main spring with varying degrees of temperature. Separate changing rooms and toilets for both sexes also have been built including a play area, a mini zoo and an aquarium.
